Pueblo County Government

Pueblo County is the tenth most populous of the 64 counties of the State of Colorado of the United States. The county was named for the historic city of Pueblo which took its name from the Spanish language word meaning "town" or "village". Pueblo West Metropolitan District

The Pueblo West Metropolitan District was created on September 16, 1969, pursuant to the Metropolitan District Law adopted in 1947 by the Colorado Legislature, Article 3 of Chapter 89, Colorado Revised Statutes. The Metropolitan District Law and certain other statutes of the Colorado Legislature are applicable to the District. The District is a quasi-municipal political subdivision.

Colorado City

Colorado City, south of Pueblo along I-25, anchors the southern leg of the Frontier Pathways National Scenic and Historic Byway. The road, 104 miles along the splendid Sangre de Cristo Mountains, travels through the San Isabel National Forest, by Hardscrabble Canyon and by the 40-acre Lake Isabel, an ideal spot for fishing, hiking and picnicking.

City of Pueblo

Pueblo is a Home Rule Municipality that is the county seat and the most populous city of Pueblo County, Colorado, United States. The population was estimated to be 104,877 in 2009, making it the 245th most populous city in the United States.

Pueblo is situated at the confluence of the Arkansas River and Fountain Creek 103 miles (166 km) south of the Colorado State Capitol in Denver. The area is considered to be semi-arid with approximately 14 inches (355.60 mm) of precipitation annually; however with its location in the "banana belt", Pueblo tends to get less snow than the other major cities in Colorado. Pueblo is the heart of the Pueblo Metropolitan Statistical Area and an important part of the Front Range Urban Corridor.

Boone

Boone is a Statutory Town in Pueblo County, Colorado, United States. It is part of the Pueblo, Colorado Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 333 at the 2000 census.

Boone was founded as Booneville during the Pikes Peak Gold Rush by Albert Gallatin Boone, grandson of Daniel Boone. Boone was the first postmaster and for a brief time Indian agent to the Cheyenne and Arapahoe.

Avondale

Avondale is home to a close-knit community with a population just under 800. It is a census-designated place (CDP) in Pueblo County, and is part of the Pueblo Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Rye

Rye, Colorado, at the base of Greenhorn MountainRye is located between Colorado City and the town of San Isabel on Colorado 165, southwest of Pueblo. This San Isabel National Forest foothills town is tucked along the Frontier Pathways National Scenic and Historic Byway. The Byway winds into the San Isabel National Forest and passes through landscapes ranging from meadows to mountains.

Beulah

Quaint and quiet, the unincorporated community of Beulah, Co, is situated in the beautiful Wet Mountains, 23 miles southwest of Pueblo at approximately 6,800 feet above sea level.
